School Travel Plan
Autumn Term 2024
This term, we will be talking to the children about road safety as part of our suite of safeguarding topics. However, road safety is a topic that we all take responsibility for as it affects all of us.
Parents: please join our Parent Council or submit your ideas to class reps regarding the Travel Plan for the school. We want to encourage all parents to use the roads away from our school road to park and walk to school.
Pupils: the first action for our newly elected School Prefects and School Council will be to put in place a Travel Plan for the school, working with teachers, parents, governors, the Local Authority and Highways Police. Our children will be taking their safety travelling to school seriously, so we hope that parents will do too.
Resources: if you have allowed your child in Year 5 or 6 to walk to school it is important that all parents have discussed road safety with their child and agreed safe routes. Please see the link below which is a film for children called first journeys.
The following website are also useful for parents to talk to their children about being safe near roads. Please also think about what your child is wearing to school as we move towards winter. Being seen is important, so reflective markings on shoes or coats help make your child visible to drivers.
